My brother Micheal Donnell Smith was in unarmed black man who was gunned down Monday, August 11, 2025, by either KCPD (Missouri) or Platte County (Missouri) Police. The have been giving us the run around and even transferred his body to the Kansas side for in autopsy & to donate his organs. They are pointing fingers now that evidence has been surfacing that shows my brother with his hands up and gun in his pocket telling them not to shoot and he's not going to shoot them. They told us literally (5) different stories. One that he shot himself in front of his baby mothers' duplex, another they found him at the SpringHill's Suite under a trailer with a self-inflicted wound to the head, etc. I've called every news station, and they weren't aware of the incident that happened and staid it was strange that they weren't called to the scene. I've already filed a complaint at both police departments and have been in touch with an attorney who we let know that we want to proceed with a lawsuit and an indictment of the officer who shot him. I'm also needing help seeking out other black movements to help with this matter. The county Platte doesn't believe in NAACP but wants you to use their office to make a complaint. Spoke to a few white men who told me on video to seek help from a movement and obtain a black lawyer. They already said they people in the law firm there will not bite the hand that feeds them.
